I typically make a smoothie once a week, a ruse to get my little one to ingest his least favorite fruit/vegetable as long as I have included a taste that he appreciates (banana). We also have a masticating juicer- Omega VRT350 ( I use this if I am only interested in pure juice without the fiber). My fruit blender blade became ineffective so I recently purchased a Ninja juice blender to complement my Omega.
Zucchini Smoothie
2 D’Anjou Pears (chopped)
2 Navel Oranges (juiced using citrus juicer)
60 g Zucchini (chopped)
No milk, no water or added sugar needed. Use your blender or magic bullet, your choice.
Taste: Although the pear was prominent, notes of the other two ingredients were definitely present in the taste. My little one and I enjoyed the refreshing drink.
Another combo
This one is less sweet, to be expected because of the ingredients. You can however sweeten it up with more apples (sweet kind- Gala) or another of your choice, and with that you have created a different combination!
77g Shredded Zucchini/Courgette
185g, 2 small Green Apples from my garden (I need to figure out what type of hybrid it is)
1 lemon fruit, juiced.
Be sure to chop the other two ingredients small enough to make blending easy. Add water or more juice to make it more watery, if you prefer. I stuck with only the listed ingredients with no other added item. I got a darker green than with the first drink above
Taste: Great, but has that palate cleansing ‘lemonadey’ thick smoothie taste and texture to it. Different but lovely, I think. I like I like 🙂

Avocado Smoothie
Hass Avocado (3)
Banana (2)
Yellow New Zealand Kiwi (3)
Sweet Green Apples (2)
Almond Milk
Ice Cubes
I chopped and blended all listed ingredients to create the smoothie shown below, the ice cubes gives it a crunch and the added milk a smooth texture. I typically use only fruits or vegetable but added milk to make it more appealing for my little one.
Taste– Avocadobanana!
Avocado
- Hass Avocado (3)
- Gala Apples (1)
- Condensed Coconut milk (1/2 cup)
- Ice cubes
- Honey
Winterberry almost!
Blackberries ( I had frozen these from last time I saw them in store)
Banana
Green grapes (seedless)
Pears (Anjou)
Coconut Milk Smoothie
I made this because we had some leftover coconut milk from pumpkin pie my husband made ( waste not , want not)
1/4 cup coconut milk
3 Anjou pear
2 Gala apples
Water
Taste: sweet coconut pear smoothie
Citrus Spinach
- Baby Spinach (1/2 bag)
- Gala Apples (2-3)
- Navel oranges (4-6)
- Agave (1-2 tbsp)
A little more orange if the spinach is too strong. Agave was found to help reduce the spinach strong tast
Tip: What I do because I sometimes buy lots of fruits at one go, I freeze some after washing and grab to use in my smoothie blend when needed. Of course for juicing, I use fresh fruits.
