I usually make specialty bread (brioche- my fav), croissants etc the old-fashioned way, but I use a bread machine for the basic bread- very convenient, and it has helped me stick to my goal of not buying bread from the store over the years (no point setting a goal that is not realistic for me to keep, lol).
This recipe has worked well in 3 different types of bread machine tested till date, myself and other family member included.
- 1 can of condensed carnation milk ( 110 Celsius or room temperature -check machine guidance)
- 2 Tbs butter ( regular or Irish butter; melted or room temperature)
- 3 cups bread flour (white alone or mixed with wheat) (King Arthur)
- 4 Tbs sugar
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 2 tsp active yeast
Just add all into machine bucket, liquid first and yeast last. Be sure to check consistency when the beeps goes off in the machine- tweak as needed [machines provide guidance].
